Apple challenges x86’s reign with the one-two punch of M1 Pro and Max

On Monday, at Apple’s “Unleashed” event, the technology industry reached an important milestone: a visible end to the 40-plus year reign of the Intel x86 architecture. This isn’t a cataclysmic end for the chip architecture that has carried us from the early days of personal computing in business to client-server, mobile computing, data center, and cloud.
