Despite stiff competition on numerous fronts, Apple has managed to secure a position for itself as the world’s foremost provider of smartphones, and it continues to hold the single largest share of the smartphone industry. That is thanks in small part to it being the only major smartphone manufacturer that has a monopoly on its hardware as well as software.
